Grape Eskate 2012

For those who haven't heard, the Grape Eskate is on...

Feel like a nice relaxing skate through the wineries of the North Fork of Long Island. On Saturday, November 3, The 9th Annual Grape Eskate will be held. Starting in Greenport, Long Island, the skate will be a light intermediate skate of 14 miles. We will be stopping at several wineries to sample their wares, relaxing and enjoying the local music scene.

Of Course Bikers are welcome. If traveling by train please check the LIRR website about bike permi ts. Here it the link : http://www.mta.info/lirr/about/Bicycles/

If traveling by train, the train will leave Penn Station at 9:16 AM.

For those driving, here are the directions:

Meet at the Greenport Train Station at 12 Noon

Long Island Expressway to Exit 73, (Old County Road Route58). Take Route 58 west to Greenport. (You will Merge with Route 25.) Once in Greenport, follow the sign to the Shelter Island Ferry/Long Island Rail Road.

PS. This skate is for anyone who feels comfortable enough to skate in the street at any level.. If you would like to bring a friend or family member who is not a member of Empire, we welcome them with open arms, they just need to sign a waiver. Helmets and wrist guards required, all other protective gear recommended.

There will be a SAG wagon for people's bags and shoes and whatnots.. :)
